Thomaston Public Library, in the Thomaston Academy building at 60 Main St./Route 1, invites the public to join Alexis Iammarino Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to noon to celebrate her recently published art catalog "Hole History: Origins Of The American-Style Donut."

There will be readings from the catalog, a slideshow, video screening and, of course, doughnut eating. The story of Capt. Hanson Gregory of Rockport, who is said to have invented the hole-in-the-doughnut, inspired Iammarino’s “Hole History” exhibition and its catalog.

This event is part of a 2018 Kindling Fund project, awarded to Iammarino and collaborator Maeve O’Regan, to design and publish the catalog from the 2016 exhibition, which was a collection of art, performance and writing in response to Hanson’s claim. The Kindling Fund is a grant program administered by Portland’s SPACE Gallery as part of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Network.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the library at 354-2453.
