As part of Rockport’s Holiday on the Harbor 2018, Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School will present the 18th annual Odeon Holiday Concert Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3:30 p.m. at Union Hall, 24 Union St. in the village. The performance, sponsored by Camden National Bank, is free and open to the public.

The festive concert features the Odeon Ensembles — Allegro, Adult Orchestra and, new this year, the inter-generational Odeon Chamber Orchestra. Odeon Allegro, an ensemble of youngest members, is led by Bay Chamber faculty members Maya French, violin; Brianna Fischler, viola; and Nate Martin, bass.

The Odeon Adult and Chamber orchestras are conducted by Deirdre McClure, assisted by Gilda Joffe and Nathan Hillman. The concert will feature works by a variety of composers including Elgar’s Serenade for Strings and many holiday favorites.

Also joining the Odeon ensembles for this performance is the Bay Chamber Jazz Ensemble, led by Mike Whitehead, trumpet, and Martin. Numbers will include “Moon Alley” by Tom Harrell, “Serenade to a Cuckoo” by Roland Kirk and a short improvisation.

Earlier the same afternoon, Bay Chamber’s Suzuki Twinklers will perform an informal Playdown beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Union Hall.

The Odeon Holiday Concert will conclude in plenty of time for attendees to stroll down to the harbor for the fireworks, set to begin at 5:30 p.m. For more information about the Odeon program or any of Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School’s offerings, call 236-2823 or visit For more information on Rockport’s Holiday on the Harbor, call the Town of Rockport at 236-0806.
