Thomaston Public Library will mark the first anniversary of its monthly Family Movie & Pizza Night with “The Muppet Christmas Carol” Monday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. Families are invited to come watch the movie and enjoy some pizza at the library, located in the historic Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The event is free and open to all, and pajama wearing is welcome.

In this heartwarming retelling of “A Christmas Carol” from Walt Disney Pictures and Jim Henson Productions, Gonzo narrates as Charles Dickens (assisted by Rizzo the Rat). On Christmas Eve in 19th-century London, merriment is not shared by Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine, the only non-puppet), a surly moneylender who is more interested in profit than celebration. His bookkeeping staff, including loyal employee Bob Cratchit (Kermit the Frog), has to plead with him just to have the day off work. Will visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come show him the error of his dastardly, miserly ways?

The G-rated 1992 film includes all the Muppet favorites including Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, Bean Bunny and more. The film will be shown with closed captions for the deaf and hard of hearing.
