The annual Empty Bowl Supper offers food, music and a silent auction of items by local vendors and artisans Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Wave Café of Camden Hills Regional High School, Keelson Drive off Route 90.

Pottery/clay students from the school’s Empty Bowl Club work to create ceramic bowls. The community is invited to a simple, yet gourmet meal of soup (not to mention chowders, stews, and chili), excellent bread and water. In exchange for a donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls and hunger in the world. The money raised is donated to local food pantries.

Admission is $9 for individuals, $30 for a family of four with two small children.

After the dinner, there will be a free winter choral and band concert in the Strom Auditorium, with a donation of canned food requested as admission. Snow date for both events is Dec. 17.

Community members who would like to contribute a batch of soup for the event or something for the silent auction are encouraged to contact fine arts teacher Russell Kahn at
