To celebrate Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27, U.S. Cellular announced the return of its program, The Future of Good, which champions and invests in youth who are having an impact in their communities. This year, the program will recognize 16 young people under the age of 16 who doing good for others and reward them with $10,000 toward their cause.

In 2017, U.S. Cellular recognized Tommy Hosmer, of Bangor, in support of his Team Mimi. Hosmer started Team Mimi to benefit efforts to battle ovarian cancer. U.S. Cellular contributed $10,000 to Team Mimi.

In 2016, U.S. Cellular recognized Jason Albaum, Colby Ellis, and Juli Ennis of Project Playback in Kennebunk. Through music therapy, the teens interviewed patients and family members to create personalized playlists on donated MP3 players and brought personal interaction to nursing home residents through weekly visits.

Through Jan. 8, the public is encouraged to visit to nominate youth ages 6 to 15 (as of Jan. 8) who are making an impact in their communities. Winners will be announced in February.
