“Counting on Birds,” a one-hour documentary about National Audubon’s annual Christmas Bird Count, will be screened Saturday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Maine Coastal Islands NWR Visitor Center, 9 Water St.

The annual bird count is the longest-running wildlife census in the world. The film introduces bird lovers who participate, from the forests of New Hampshire and Maine; to the mountains of Ecuador and tropics of Cuba.

The screening is free. The entire Visitor Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so attendees can also see the new art exhibit and check out the Nature Store.
