Children's Museum says thanks for successful fundraiser

On Friday, March 9, The Coastal Children’s Museum hosted its second annual fundraising event, Shaken Not Stirred, a James Bond-themed cocktail party and movie viewing, at The Strand Theatre in Rockland.

The evening was magnificent! Melody Wolfertz of In Good Company provided delicious food for the VIP cocktail party. Six amazing raffle baskets filled with things to do and see up and down the coast of Maine were raffled off that evening. A "selfie station" provided entertainment and photographer Aidan Kaczynski supplied memories and professional photographs. Guests participated in casino games and won prizes donated by local businesses and organizations and everyone enjoyed a special viewing of the hit James Bond film, "Casino Royale."

The Coastal Children’s Museum would not exist without the generous support of our caring community and Shaken, Not Stirred would not have been such a tremendous success without the support from our community.

We would like to thank the following sponsors whose generous donations added to the success of this year’s event; New Leaf Construction, Penobscot Island Air, Douglas Dynamics, Hamilton Marine, The First National Bank and Eastern Tire. The following businesses graciously donated items and certificates for raffle baskets and game prizes. We would like to thank them for their donations and for supporting the Coastal Children’s Museum: Cape Air, Eclipse Restaurant, Tom Woodman, Primo Restaurant, Bufflehead Schooner, Sail, Power and Steam Museum, 16 Bay View Hotel, Rockland Harbor Hotel, Owls Head Transportation Museum, Amtrak Downeaster, Farnsworth Art Museum, Bay Chamber Concerts, Samoset Resort, 40 Paper Restaurant, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Trillium Soaps, YMCA, Eat More Cheese, Blackberry Inn, Sea Ventures, Brystle Noble, Boyd ‘n Sheppard Schooner, Hampton Inn, Whales Tooth Pub, Fiore Oil and Vinegar, Shaws Supermarket, Flagship Cinemas, Rustica Restaurant, Wasses Hot Dogs, McDonalds, EBS, Pizza Hut, Rockland Ford, Rick Bernard, Waterworks Restaurant, Bella Luna Toys, Rite Aid, and Walmart. Thank you to Lori Huff of Kitschville designs for creating our fantastic raffle baskets — true works of art, each one based on a James Bond movie. We would also like to thank Jessie Davis and the Strand Theatre for hosting the VIP Cocktail Party and viewing of the film "Casino Royale."

Finally, this event would not have come together, nor would it have been as successful as it was, without help from our Board of Directors, staff and our wonderful volunteers. Special thank-yous to Karyn Rizzo, Connie Hammermeister, Dean and Deirdre Felton, Jane Frantz, Emily Wotton and Kyle Blum for their help in ensuring the event’s success.

Funds raised at this special event will enable the museum to continue to offer educational programs for the children of this community. For more information about the Coastal Children’s Museum, programs, and other offerings, visit the website, coastalchildrensmuseum.org.

Once again, thank you to everyone who came to Shaken, Not Stirred and to all those who continue to support the Coastal Children’s Museum.
