Francis H. Murphy, age 67,  formerly of Camden, died Feb. 12, 2018.

He is survived by his partner of 27 years, Barbara Kurz.

Frank was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and attended Brooklyn Prep High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1971. He went to work for Williamsburg Savings Bank, where he started his career as a bank auditor. After acquisition by Republic Bank, he continued to rise through the management ranks to serve in various senior control positions.

In the early 1990s, Frank moved to Wilmington, Del., to begin a second career with MBNA America. During his tenure as an executive vice president at MBNA, he led Audit, Quality Assurance, and the MBNA Education Foundation in Delaware and Maine. Frank was particularly proud of his financial management work with The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Del., and St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, N.J.

Frank was predeceased by his brother John Peter Murphy, and nephew Christopher Murphy, and brothers-in-law Clif Abel, Joseph Gatti and Charles M. Cawley. He is survived by his siblings Hugh (Elizabeth) Murphy, Mary Jo Gatti, Julie Cawley and Gertrude Abel. Frank was also the proud uncle to 11 nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 15,between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine, Greenville, Del. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30.
