It is no secret high school basketball teams at Oceanside have been, and are, successful. The boys won the league championship over the weekend, the girls are back in the playoffs and the unified team has qualified for the playoffs the past three seasons, including being a regional finalist in 2015.

The unified team took another step toward a fourth consecutive postseason appearance on Thursday, Feb. 8, as the Mariners traveled to Cony and returned to Rockland with a 64-53 victory.

The win was the team’s second of the season, and, put the squad’s record at 2-2 with two games to play.

In Thursday’s contest, Oceanside’s offense fired on all cylinders as the Mariners led 16-8 after the first quarter, 34-22 at halftime and 52-39 at the end of the third quarter.

Oceanside’s Ryan Warren lead all scorers with 26 points, while Ryan Morse added 16; Kaytlyn Pierce, 10; Erica Dyer and Angel Seiders, six.

For Cony, Ahmad Abdalnnabi keyed the Rams with 14 points, while Nick Waterhouse added 10; Nathan Teague, eight; Ethan MacGregor, six; Addie Bowman, five; Katrina Boisvert and Sara Carlton, four; and Frankie Brown, two.

Upcoming Mariner games include: host Winslow, Feb. 27, 4 p.m.; and host Bucksport, March 1, 3:30 p.m.
