The operator of a Warren farm has filed papers to seek a Maine House seat that represents a rural portion of Knox County.

William Pluecker of Finntown Road registered Tuesday, Feb. 6, to be a candidate for the Maine House District 95 seat. The seat represents Warren, Appleton, Hope and part of Union.

Pluecker and Reba Richardson started Hatchet Cove Farm, an organic community-supported farm, in 2004.

Pluecker said he decided to seek the House seat because he wants to give working people a clear voice in Augusta.

He is an unenrolled independent.

The seat is held by Republican Rep. Paula Sutton of Warren. She is completing her first two-year term and has filed papers to seek a second term.

No other candidates have filed.

The deadline for party candidates to file nomination papers to get on the June 12 primary ballot is March 15. Unenrolled candidates have until May 25 to file papers to get on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
