Camden Hills wrestlers returned home from the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a fifth-place finish, champion in Noah Lang, as well as two seconds and two thirds.

Lang won at 145 pounds, while Dawson Allen (126) and Alex Vokey (170) finished second and Eric Andrews (106) and Ian Henderson (132) third in their weight classes.

After a bundle of individual mat battles during the daylong league tournament at Cony High School, the Windjammers finished fifth overall and among Class A teams.

The overall team scores were: Oxford Hills of South Paris 165, Nokomis of Newport 149, Skowhegan 136, Cony of Augusta 123, Camden Hills of Rockport 114.5, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 89, Morse of Bath 87, Mount Ararat of Topsham 81, Erskine Academy of South China 78, Mount Blue of Farmington 65.5, Mount View of Thorndike 60, Belfast 49, Winslow 38, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 34, Messalonskee of Oakland 31, Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston 15.5, Bangor 11, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 8 and Gardiner no score.

All wrestlers competed against one another in the meet in their respective weight classes, but Class A and B team champions were determined later.

The final Class A standings were: Oxford Hills, Nokomis, Skowhegan, Cony, Camden Hills, Morse, Mount Ararat, Erskine Academy, Mount Blue, Messalonskee, Bangor and Gardiner.

The final Class B standings were; Medomak Valley, Mount View, Belfast, Winslow, MCI, Oceanside and Lincoln Academy.

In Class A, Oxford Hills' Tony Stevens was coach of the year and Viking Dawson Stevens the outstanding wrestler of the meet.

The individual Camden Hills results, with Windjammers listed first, were:

106 pounds — Eric Andrews received a first-round bye, was pinned by Marshall Sawyer, Med; pinned Jake Emond, EA, at 4:03; pinned Jonathon Lujan, Mess, at 0:20; beat Ahmad Ahmad, Con, 3-1; and beat Marshall Sawyer, Med, 4-0, in the consolation final. Andrews finished third.

113 pounds — Devin Hutcheson received a bye; was pinned by Jagger Bullen, MtB, at 1:07; pinned Morgan Fonger, MtV, at 0:41; pinned Evan Grady, Gard, at 1:29; and was pinned by Jordan Douglas, Mors, at 3:43.

120 pounds — Joshua Saucier pinned Adam O'Farrell, MtA, at 1:24; was pinned by Riley Smith, OxH, at 2:47; received a bye; pinned Momo Halwah, Con, at 2:06; and was pinned by Connor McNish, Mor, at 3:53.

126 pounds — Dawson Allen received a first-round bye; won by major decision over Tyler Preble, Nok, 10-2; beat ZyAthony Moss, MCI, 14-9; and lost to Michael Sprague, EA, 6-4, in the championship final. Allen finished second.

132 pounds — Ian Henderson won by technical fall over Zachery Burwood, Skow, 17-1; beat Ben Brewer, Mor, 4-1; lost to Chase Curry, Bel, 10-6; pinned Zackery Burwood, Skow, at 2:21; and beat Devon Vigue, Win, 9-3, in the consolation final. Henderson finished third.

145 pounds — Noah Lang received a first-round bye; pinned Steven Lujan, Mess, at 3:42; pinned Brett Raio, MtA, at 1:04; and pinned Cole Dunham, OxH, at 1:03 in the championship final. Lang finished first.

160 pounds — Brady Hedstrom was pinned by Dawson Stevens, OxH, at 0:54; received a bye; and was pinned by Matthew Barnard, MtV, at 3:27.

170 pounds — Alex Vokey pinned Dakota Andow, Con, at 0:34; pinned Jason Norwood, Bel, at 1:57; beat David Wilson, Nok, 6-4; and lost to major decision to Jon Bell, Skow, 11-2, in the championship final. Vokey finished second.

182 pounds — Kenneth Dare was pinned by Justin Browne, EA, at 1:41; received a bye; and was pinned by Zuka Mabior, OxH, at 1:23.

195 pounds — Justin Secotte received a first-round bye; was pinned by Amos Hinkley, Med, at 1:28; pinned Jacob Godbout, MtA, at 0:53; pinned Evan Clark, MCI, at 2:26; and was pinned by Ihsan Myers, Mor, at 1:19.

285 pounds — Ben MacWilliams beat Cameron Watts, Bel, 5-3; was pinned by Jakob Peavey, EA, at 0:35; received a bye; and lost to Jacob White, Med, 6-3.

Next up for the Windjammers is the Class A North championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Oxford Hills in South Paris. Those who qualify from the regional meet compete in the state Class A championships on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Sanford.
