In an exercise in efficiency, the town of Appleton has filled two town positions with one new hire. Dave Schofield is now the new Appleton code enforcement officer and the new town plumbing inspector.

Select Board Chairman John Fenner said the town began advertising to fill the position in December, and heard from two applicants. The credentials of both applicants were reviewed by the select board, but Schofield was the only candidate to meet with them for an interview.

"We met with him, were happy with his background and hired him," said Fenner on Jan. 23. Schofield, who lives in the town of Knox, was hired on Jan. 9, and his first official day of work was Jan. 16.

Located within the government section of the town of Appleton website, the page for code enforcement officer lists Schofield's qualifications. Schofield can be contacted by calling 322-7365 or by contacting the Appleton Town Office at 785-3166.
