The Camden Area Business Group welcomed Susan Barnes, new owner of Dot's in Lincolnville to the area Jan. 11, with a ribbon cutting.

Barnes, who opened the Waterworks Restaurant in Rockland in the mid 1990s, is returning to her lifelong love of creating delicious food that's good for the soul. She trained professionally at the Johnson and Wales University culinary program in Providence, R.I. More recently, while raising her daughter and working in health and wellness, she has kept in touch with Maine's food culture, collaborating frequently with Marika Kuzma, former longtime owner of Aurora Provisions in Portland, and occasionally working as a private chef in Portland.

Barnes sees the popular Route 1 eatery as a go-to place for locals and visitors. She welcomes all those who stop by for breakfast, lunch or a cup of coffee to introduce themselves. Adding more prepared food and grab 'n go dinners, expanding gluten-free and vegetarian options, and sourcing ingredients from local farms are all part of Barnes' plans. As always, Dot's will be stocked with house-baked goods, artisan sundries, cheeses, gift items, craft beers and carefully selected wines.

Dot's is located at 2457 Atlantic Highway in Lincolnville, and will be open the same hours: Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dot's will offer small event catering, and special orders are welcome in advance.
