The Mid Coast Falcons football team plans to meet with perspective new players on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Cancun Mexican Restaurant and can communicate via phone call or email.

The team is for post high school players and adults. The season runs July to September, with the playoffs in October. The team plays its home games on Larrabee Field in Knox.

For more information, call head coach Kelly Wells at (207) 703-5170 or offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Thomas Curtis at (207) 691-4702. One also can email coach Wells at coachwells97222@gmail.com or coach Curtis at thomas.curtis@maine.edu.

Curtis said under the guidance Wells, the team "has improved tremendously — bringing in a new coaching staff and a totally new offense."

"We’ve worked extremely hard on bringing in new talent and have gotten local younger guys to come and try out," Curtis said.

Nathan Dunton and Mathue Sprowl, 2016 Oceanside graduates, and Willie Moss and Jonathon Santiago of Maine Central Institute are a few of the players expected to play. Moss had the opportunity to walk-on to the University of Maine football team and Santiago was a Black Bear walk-on in 2015.

Hunter Grindle will join Curtis, both Oceanside graduates and former Mariner players, as the strength and conditioning coach and Hybrid Fitness will be the home gym of the Falcons, Curtis said.

"We are extremely excited to get the season started with a new players meeting," Curtis said. "There are still plenty of spots on the team and [we] would love to talk to anyone that is interested."
