Record-setting frigid weather has led Rockland to open municipal buildings as warming shelters for the second consecutive week.

Rockland City Hall will be open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Rockland Public Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. And the Flanagan Community Center will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

The city announced last week that people could come into those buildings to get warm.

The average high temperature for Jan.1 is 30 degrees Farenheit and the average low is 12. Since Dec. 26, the temperature has not exceeded 13 degrees, with overnight lows going below zero.
