The Camden Snow Bowl will open for the season Friday, Dec. 22, with a new menu in the lodge and a just-in-time repair completed on a pump motor that powers snowmaking on the upper half of the mountain.

The hours Dec. 22 are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The season opening is also just in time for school holiday week, an important milestone for ski area revenues.

An introductory menu will be rolled out in the lodge by new food concession vendor the Bagel Cafe. Along with the ever-popular standards, hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, chicken fingers and Texas Toast, are veggie burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches, a Rueben sandwich with house-cured corned beef, Caesar and chef salads, and fried pirogis. Fresh soups, breakfast sandwiches, assorted bagels and cream cheeses and granola and yogurt round out the concession offerings for opening week.

Last week, Snow Bowl Manager Beth Ward had to ship out for repair a 500-horsepower pump motor used in snowmaking on the upper mountain. The repaired pump motor was due back at the Snow Bowl Dec. 19, she said, with snowmaking to begin the next day.
