Snowy weather caused the postponement of a special town meeting in Union Tuesday night that would have decided whether to contract with Penquis to provide housing at the Thompson Community Center.

Selectmen will likely set the new date for the town meeting at their Dec. 19 meeting.

Town Manager Jay Feyler said an informational meeting on the project is planned for Jan. 8.

If the proposal is passed, Penquis would repair the building and create housing for senior citizens and still allow the community to have access to the gym and the thrift store. Some of the operations currently using the center might be moved or disrupted.
