Two players and a coach from the state Class A champion Camden Hills Regional High School girls soccer team were honored at the 44th Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Spectacular Events Center.

Those Windjammers were recipients of lofty individual accolades.

The highest honor was bestowed on Windjammer sophomore forward Kristina Kelly who, along with Yarmouth’s Sara D’Appalonia, were named as the two All-Americans in the state in the sport.

Kelly amassed an astounding 38 goals and 17 assists, while also being named to the All-New England team and as state Class A player of the year. She has 71 goals in two seasons at Camden Hills.

Junior midfielder Kassie Krul also was named to the All-New England team as she finished the campaign with 10 goals and seven assists.

Windjammer coach Meredith Messer also was named Maine large school coach of the year for the second straight year and will compete with five other coaches throughout New England for regional coach of the year.

Camden Hills capped an undefeated season and beat Scarborough 3-2 to win the state Class A soccer championship for the second straight year on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Deering High School in Portland.

Krul scored two of the team’s three goals and Kelly the other in the victory.
