Marcia P. (O'Reilly) Griswold, 72, formerly of Newton Mass., Kingston, Mass., and Waldoboro, died peacefully Nov. 16, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Marcia was the loving daughter of Stanley and Franceska (Adams) Griswold, formerly of Newton, Mass., and Owls Head, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up in West Newton, Mass. She graduated from Newton North High School in the class of 1963.

She received an associate's degree from Westbrook College in Portland, and later she received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Bridgewater State University.

She raised her family in Kingston, Mass., until moving to Waldoboro in the late 1980s.

After graduating from Westbrook College, Marcia joined Eastern Airlines as a stewardess, which she remembered fondly because of her love of travel. After having children, Marcia's career path focused on nonprofit work, with an emphasis on working with children and senior citizens. Marcia loved spending time with her children and her grandson. She enjoyed gardening, day trips and the arts.

She was the loving mother of Russell S. Bird of West Wareham, Mass., Samantha P Gomes and her husband, Richard P. Jr., of Middleboro, Mass., Franceska J. Guarino and her husband, Dante, of Lynn, Mass. She was proud Nana of Patrick and sister of the late Rev. John A. Griswold.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a celebration of Marcia's life Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon at St. John Baptist Episcopal Church, 200 Main St., Thomaston, ME 04861. Donations in her memory may be made to St. John Baptist Episcopal Church.
