The Medomak Valley and Oceanside high school girls basketball teams emerged with slim victories on Tuesday night, Nov. 28 as the Panthers and Mariners hosted preseason contests.

The Panthers prowled to a 46-39 win over Ellsworth, while the Mariners sailed to a 44-41 victory over Erskine Academy of South China.

The following is a recap of reported results:

Medomak Valley 46, Ellsworth 39

At Waldoboro Nov. 28, the Panthers held the Eagles at bay throughout the 32-minute affair and netted a seven-point win. Medomak Valley led 10-8 after the first quarter, 26-20 at halftime and 33-31 after three quarters.

Gabby DePatsy tossed in 19 points to lead the Panthers, while Sadie Cohen added 13; Lydia Simmons, seven; Aubrey Schaeffer, Abby Lash and Hattie Watmough, two; and Hallie Kunesh, one.

The Panthers were 5-of-9 (56 percent) from the foul line and the Eagles 10-of-12 (83 percent).

Oceanside 44, Erskine Academy 41

At Rockland Nov. 28, the Mariners sailed to a three-point win over the Eagles. Oceanside led 13-7 after the first quarter, while the squads were tied 21-21 at halftime. The Mariners retook a 32-29 advantage after three quarters.

Gabby Simmons tossed in 14 points for the hosts, while Hope Butler added eight; Abby Veilleux, seven; Raechel Joyce, six; Hannah Moholland, five; and Sara Dorr, four.

Joanna Linscott scored 12 points for Erskine Academy, while Lydia Boucher added six; Bailey Cloutier, Liz Sugg and Summer Hotham, four; Alyssa Savage and Parker King, three; and Lauren Wood and Jordan Linscott, two.

The Mariners were 13-of-23 (56 percent) from the foul line, while the Eagles were 6-of-11 (54 percent).
