Adam Daniel Purington, 37, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017.

Adam was born June 17, 1980, the son of Dana Fred Purington Sr. and Fern Purington. He grew up in Gardiner, and did a four-year tour in the Army after graduating from Gardiner Area High School in 1999. At the time of his death, Adam was employed as a commercial fisherman in Rockland. It was a job he greatly enjoyed for the last 10 years.

Adam was always very active and enjoyed studying karate and jiujitsu and was an avid disc-golfer. He enjoyed watching contact sports, and although he worked hard and was gone for long periods of time, he would always make it home for family gatherings. He was a kind-hearted man and could always be found entertaining his twin younger brothers when he was home.

Adam was predeceased in August of this year by his father, Dana F. Purington Sr. He was also predeceased by his grandparents, Robert E. Purington Sr. and Helen Austin Purington.

Adam is survived by his three brothers, Peter, Dana Jr., and Devyn Purington; and four sisters, Sheri Purington, Marcella Castle and her partner, Matt Collins, Ashley Bernard and her partner, Mike Gove, and Bianca Bernard and her partner, Doug MacMaster. He is also survived by two nephews, Wyatt Gove and Mason MacMaster, as well as two nieces, Madison Gove and Myah Hunter. He also leaves behind his mother, as well as several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

A potluck celebration of life will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Eagles Club, 21 Eagle Drive, Gardiner, at noon. (Please, no outside drinks allowed, beverages are available for purchase).
