The Rockland City Council has scheduled a Wednesday night meeting to talk about the upcoming change in trash operations as well as proposed regulations on medical marijuana facilities.

The council has scheduled the workshops for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at city hall.

The first workshop that evening is on ecomaine. The council voted in April to approve a 20-year contract with ecomaine that begins March 31, 2018. That is when the long-term contract with Penobscot Energy Recovery Company of Orrington expires.

That workshop will be followed by one concerning proposed ordinances for the city to regulate medical marijuana operations.

The council gave preliminary approval Nov. 13 on 3-2 votes to ordinances. A final vote and formal public hearings are are scheduled for Dec. 11.

The ordinances would regulate where the facilities could be located and what the approval process is.
