Two Medomak Valley-based youth diamond squads were among the finalists in their respective divisions of the recently-concluded Eastern Maine Fall Baseball League.

In the 13-15 age division, the Midcoast Mainiacs went undefeated in the regular season and ultimately claimed the league championship. While in the 8-12 age division, Midcoast Mayhem finished second in the regular season and ended the campaign as league runners-up.

13-15 division

Team members for the Midcoast Mainiacs include Ryan Creamer, Max Moody, Adam Berry, Clayton Belcher, Joe Curtis, Ethan Reed, Noah Crosby, Parker Morrison, Kallon Mortensen, Isaac McCollett and Jonah Miller.

The regular-season standings included: Midcoast Mainiacs 10-0, Hampden 8-2, Old Town 6-4, Jaguars 6-4, Bangor 3-5 and Calais 0-8.

In the playoffs, the top-ranked Mainiacs bested the Jaguars 5-2 on Sunday, Oct. 15. In the next round, the Mainiacs swung to an 11-3 win over Hampden on Sunday, Oct. 22. In the game against Hampden, Curtis worked four innings on the hill, allowing seven hits and one walk, with five strikeouts. McCollett also tossed two innings of one-hit relief in the win.

In the championship game, the Mainiacs defeated Hampden 8-0 on Sunday, Oct. 22. Creamer tossed a complete-game shutout for the Mainiacs yielding three hits and no walks, while fanning 10 batters.

8-12 division

Team members for Midcoast Mayhem include Hayden Staples, Brady Carter, Aaron Reed, Blake Morrison, Isaac Simmons, Ryan Jarvis, Kyle Smith, Wyatt Simmons, Sam Moody, Gabe Lash, Kory Donlin, Walker Simmons, Landon Morrison and Colby Simmons. The team is coached by Keith Simmons and assistant coaches Chris Jarvis and Matt Lash.

Midcoast Mayhem finished the regular season 9-1.

Playoff seedings for the eight competing squads (records for all teams were unavailable) included Downeast Revolution, Midcoast Mayhem, Old Town River Drivers, Calais, Sebasticook, MDI, Old Town Pink Panthers and Knox County Knucklers.

Other teams in the league that did not qualify for the playoffs included Old Town Thunder, Harrington Pirates, Downeast Pride and Old Town Timber.

In the playoffs, Midcoast Mayhem posted an 8-2 win over the Old Town Pink Panthers (Staples was the winning pitcher), lost 9-3 to the Old Town River Drivers, defeated Calais 10-9 (Reed was the winning pitcher), defeated Sebasticook 7-1 (Reed was the winning pitcher) and bested the Old Town River Drivers 12-8 (Isaac Simmons was the winning pitcher) before eventually falling to Downeast Revolution 9-2 in the championship final.
