The Camden Police Department has charged Jon Baribeau, 48, of Brunswick, with attempted felony theft, Class B, for trying to gain access to a Brinks armored truck Aug. 28. at the Camden Hannaford store.

Baribeau was arrested Sept. 5 in Brunswick. Camden Police Detective Curt Andrick was assisted by Detective Don Murray of Knox County Sheriff's Office and the Brunswick Police Department.

Baribeau was transported to Knox County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash. Camden police received new leads on the case from witnesses and video evidence, according to Andrick.

The incident occurred at about 9 a.m., Aug. 28, according to Andrick. Police said a male suspect was wearing a bright yellow outfit that looked like a hazardous materials suit as well as a black face mask when he approached a Brink's armored truck and tried to open the rear door.

The door was locked and the man fled on foot to the rear of the shopping center on Route 1.

Camden police officers searched locations around the area to find the suspect, along with Belfast Police Officer Travis Spencer and his police K9 unit, Dex, and Knox County Sheriff's officers.
