Gabriel Donohue and Marian Makins will give a World War I-themed concert Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Ocean View Grange, 435 Port Clyde Road/Route 131.

Donohue is an Irish-born singer and multi-instrumentalist who performs both solo and along with a cadre of top-flight musicians, across the United States. In addition to appearing on the Letterman show with Tom Waits; and touring for three years with the Grammy Award-winning Chieftains, Gabriel has recorded with Joanie Madden, Cherish the Ladies, Eileen Ivers, James Keane, Aoife Clancy, John Whelan and Brian Conway.

Vocalist Makins has performed widely in the Mid-Atlantic region and New England, with notable venues including Philadelphia’s Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the National Arts Club in New York City, the Mystic Sea Music Festival and Rockland’s own Sail, Power and Steam Museum.

This concert will feature songs from, and about, the First World War, in honor of the centenary of America’s entry into the conflict. Tickets are $15. For more information, call 372-8629.
