The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Friday Night Film Series screens films every week at 7 p.m. in the historic Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1. Parking and handicapped accessibility is in the rear of the building.

Music is Ageless month concludes July 28 with “The Last of the Blonde Bombshells” (2000, USA/UK-TV), rated PG-13 and running 83 minutes. An amazing cast including Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian Holm, Olympia Dukakis, Leslie Caron and Dame Cleo Laine stars in this hilarious comedy. As a teenager in the war years, Elizabeth (Dench) played sax with the Blonde Bombshells, until a scandal blew the band apart. Some five decades later, encouraged by her granddaughter and Patrick (Holm), an old rogue from her youth, she sets off in search of the other members of the group, with the dream of recreating their former glories.

Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments are served. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
