The 70th Maine Lobster Festival will open at noon Wednesday, Aug. 2, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. As a throwback to the first festival, back in 1947, gate admission will be just $1 for adults and free for everyone aged 12 and under.

Gate admission for Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 3, 4, and 5, will be $8 for adults, $2 for kids age 5 to 12, and free for all children under 5. Sunday, Aug. 6, is Family Fun Day, and admission will be free for everyone.

Continuing with the theme of Old Fashioned dollar day, Aug. 2 ride tickets will be $1, and all rides will require only one or two tickets. Thursday, Friday, and Sunday are all bracelet days. Bracelets are $17 per session: the first session will be from noon until 5 p.m., and the second from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday will have a single extended session, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with bracelets still costing $17.

Thursday night on the main stage, Circus Maine will present an amazing acrobatic show for the whole family. The show begins at 7 p.m. There will be limited seating available at no extra cost.

Sunday will feature children’s events: the Children’s Fun Run; Children’s Parade; Diaper Derby; Codfish Carry; and everyone’s favorite, the International Great Crate Race.
