The 34th annual Friendship Day is Saturday, July 29. The event, held rain or shine, benefits the ambulance service for Friendship residents. The following is the schedule of events

6:30 a.m. — 24th annual road race registration. Advent Christian Church parking lot. Awards presentation at Friendship Village School parking lot after Long Haul, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Contact John Homon at 354-0409.

7 a.m. — Short Haul. Family Fun Run and Walk for kids up to eighth grade and their parents. One mile. Entry fee: $2 donation.

7 to 10 a.m. — 15th annual Friendship Pancake Breakfast. Advent Christian Church. Pancakes, plain and with Beth’s Farm fresh blueberries; maple syrup, sausages, juice and coffee.

7:45 a.m. — Long Haul 5K (3.1 mile) Foot Race/Walk. Open to all ages (three classes). Entry fee donation day of race: $10 without T-shirt and $22 with T-shirt.

8:30 a.m. — Food/Bake Sale. Under the Big Tent. All food donations welcome by 8 a.m. For more information, contact Toni Campbell, 832-4750. Homemade pies, fudge and delicious desserts available. Coffee and doughnuts in the morning.

8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Craft Fair. Fire Station and under the Big Tent. More than 30 artisans with a wide variety of crafts. For more information, contact Elizabeth Simmons, 832-6988.

9 a.m. — Pet Show. In front of the Big Tent at the Hahn Center. Prizes will be warded. For more information, contact Lorraine Lash, 832-7955.

9 to 11 a.m. — The Lobster Conservancy Marine Touch Tank. Near corner of Main Street and Route 220. Come experience sea life and Diane Cowan will be able to answer questions about lobsters and their life cycles.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Museum Annex Sale. Friendship Museum items, such as new posters featuring archival photographs, will be for sale in front of the annex. Annex will be open to visitors after the parade until noon.

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Friendship Village Co-op- Meduncook Lodge. Friendship artisans gathered together to sell their crafts and creations. Open all summer.

10 a.m. — Town Parade. "Dog Days of Friendship," with Portland Sea Dog mascot Slugger and Grand Marshals Walter Foster and Beatrice "Bea" Simmons.

11 a.m. — Midcoast Community Band. Outside Hahn Community Center.

11 a.m. — Food available:

Friendship Fire Department. Enjoy a Friendship lobster roll, hamburgers and fries.

Victory Ice Cream provides ice ream delights. Mike Mayo will be serving blooming onions, corn dogs, fried dough, etc. Wallace's Market open all day, providing take-out lunch or dinner. The Scoop will have dinner and snacks after 3 p.m.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Children's Games. Near Hahn Center. A variety of activities and entertainments for children, including The Great Stephan, strolling magician; Fletcher's Face Art; and Maine-ly Balloons, creating original balloon animals.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. —  Come inside to enjoy Steve and Joanne's Burns' train set. An indoor place to eat lunch, as well.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — St. George Carriage Co. offers complimentary carriage rides around town.

Noon — Watermelon eating contest, kids' area

12:30 to 5:30 p.m. — Enjoy musical selections from DJ John Genthner. Sign up for karaoke in the evening under the Big Tent.

1 p.m. — Auction. Hahn Community Center. Friendship’s famous auctioneer Bill Michaud weaving a story and selling treasures. Fore more information, contact Joel Fearn, 832-7644.

1 to 4 p.m. — Friendship Museum, open for tours. Corner of Martin's Point Road and Route 220.

1:30 p.m. — Whiffle ball game, for kids up to age 12, ballfield by the school.

4:30 p.m. — Chicken BBQ dinner and bake sale. Hosted by the MVHS girls softball team to raise funds for the team training trips. Tickets available from Stacy Simmons, 354-0901.

5 p.m. — Softball game; Friendship Fire vs. Cushing Fire. Friendship Ball Field.

9 p.m. — Fireworks over the Friendship Harbor. Rain or fog date, Sunday, July 30.

In addition, Sunday, July 30, the Friendship Cruise-In will take place around the Hahn Center starting at noon. with antique cars, trucks and motorcycles on display. Food provided by the Friendship Fire Department.
