“Riff Raff: Reimagined ART from Unexpected Places by Three Artists” will showcase encaustic works at Granite Gallery, 68 Main St./Route 131. The show will open with a 5 to 8 p.m. reception Friday, July 28, and continue through Wednesday, Aug. 2.

The three artists are members of the prestigious New England Wax organization, which spans the six New England states and includes the most innovative and skilled artists working in wax today.

Otty Merrill, a well-known local encaustic artist from Tenants Harbor; along with Helene Farrar of Hallowell and Ruth Sack from Cheshire, Conn, will exhibit 2-D and 3-D works that range from assemblages, which might be defined as collages in three dimensions, to intriguing art for the wall.

Many of Merrill’s assemblages include found objects from Larry’s, the thrift shop at the St. George Recycling Station; they will be shown along with many of the luminous paintings in her signature style. All three artists will be offering affordable pieces (under $100).

Gallery hours after the opening will be daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Merrill at ottymerrill@gmail.com.
