The Knox County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded more than $36,000 in grants to 12 nonprofits, including Midcoast Recovery Coalition, Rockland, to assist Knox County families struggling with addiction as they help their children thrive and end the cycle of addiction.

Other grant recipients include:

• Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, Rockport, to continue constructing affordable housing and building the community

• Friends of the Thomaston Public Library, for a books and media service that will deliver and retrieve media from older patrons who are unable to visit the library in person.

Applications go through the foundation’s Community Building Grant Program and are reviewed by a committee of local leaders. The next proposal deadline is Feb. 15, 2018. The application and guidelines can be found at mainecf.org. For more information, call 877-700-6800.
