A motorcyclist was injured Friday evening, July 7, when his vehicle struck a truck.

The man was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta with a head laceration, according to Knox County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll. The motorcyclist was conscious and alert.

The name of the individuals involved in the crash were not immediately available.

The chief deputy said the motorcycle was apparently driving too fast on Route 220 approaching the intersection of Calderwood Road. The driver of a truck did not see the motorcycle coming and pulled out from Calderwood Road, Carroll said.

The motorcyclist was unable to stop and hit the truck.
