July’s theme for the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Friday Night Film Series is Music is Ageless. Movies screen every week at 7 p.m. in the historic Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1. Parking and handicapped accessibility is in the rear of the building.

“That Thing You Do!” (1996, USA) is the pick for July 14, a PG-rated movie than runs 108 minutes. Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks writes, directs and co-stars in this refreshing big-hearted comedy that captures the overnight triumph, in spite of in-group turmoil, of an American rock band in the glory days of rock ‘n’ roll. Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler and Charlize Theron co-star in this truly funny film about a rock band called The Wonders.

Upcoming this month are: July 21, “The Chorus” (2004, France/Switzerland/Germany); and, July 28, “The Last of the Blonde Bombshells” (2000, USA/UK-TV). Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments are served. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
