Diners at the Flatbread Company on Tuesday, July 18, will help United Midcoast Charities raise funds for its annual grants to local nonprofits.

For each pizza purchased between 5 and 9 p.m. that evening — whether to eat in or take out — a donation will be put toward this year’s round of grants. Last year, United Midcoast Charities awarded more than $500,000 to organizations whose work helps those in need in Knox and Waldo counties.

No reservations are needed. The evening will include a 50/50 raffle and the opportunity to meet United Midcoast Charities Executive Director Megan Williams to hear about plans for this year. Flatbread is located at 399 Commercial St. in Rockport. For details, telephone 236-2299.

United Midcoast Charities, founded in 1942, is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to support nonprofit organizations that provide social services and care to those in need in the Midcoast. Through a yearly grant application and review process, UMCC funds agencies that primarily benefit residents of Knox and Waldo counties.
