Art Space Gallery, 342 Main St., invites everyone to July’s Arts In Rockland First Friday Art Walk. There will be a new show in the front room; and artists, wine and refreshments on hand Friday, July 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. This reception will feature the work of Jean Byrd, Nancy Davies Tang, Sandra Leinonen Dunn and Sylvia Isabelle Murdock.

Byrd will show her painting “Island Anchorage,” a traditional realist portrayal of Devil’s Island, an island in Merchant’s Row off the coast of Stonington. Her subject is the New England coast with all its fishing villages, islands, harbors and seaports.

Tang looks to her garden, fields and forests for inspiration to create works of art in kiln-fired glass and dichroic glass jewelry. Largely self-taught and with a background in painting and sculpting, she has been working with warm glass for more than 20 years.

Dunn is represented at many galleries throughout Maine, as well as by the Cortile Gallery in Provincetown, Mass. The painter also is a teacher and a published children's book illustrator.

Murdock is a self-taught artist who has painted seriously since she was 12. She paints primarily with watercolors, but also occasionally works in egg tempera and oils.

Art Space Gallery, located across from the Strand Theatre, features works by 19 artists who work in various media and genres. July hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit or check out the Facebook page.
