Two vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of Main Street and Beechwood Street just before 6 p.m. June 30.

According to the report filed by Officer Olaf Sigaud, Beniah Harding, 98, of Thomaston, had just turned north onto Main Street from Beechwood Street in a silver Suzuki Reno when he mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake and rear-ended Deborah Jones, 59, also of Thomaston, who was in a red Toyota Rav4.

Harding's vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage, according to the report. Jones' vehicle sustained minor damage.

Southbound traffic was diverted behind the commercial block and northbound traffic was rerouted behind the police station and between the fire station and Thomaston Cafe, according to onlooker Larry Butler.

Thomaston fire, police and EMS responded to the scene.
