In conjunction with Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts' Salad Days event and the New England Craft Tour, ceramic artist Simon van der Ven will hold an open studio with three guest artists.

The event will run Saturday and Sunday, July 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at van der Ven Studios, 257 Main St./routes 52/173 in Lincolnville Center.

Joining van der Ven will be Mark Bell, Tim Christensen and Ben Breda. Bell is a master potter whose work is collected around the world. He and van der Ven have been working on a collaborative project for nearly four years. Bell and Christensen, whose black and white pots will be on display, work together to fire the potters’ work in Watershed's salt kiln.  Breda, a former student of van der Ven, is a knife maker rapidly gaining the attention of both makers and collectors around the country.

Everyone is invited to join the artists for conversation, cookies and a chance to see their work together during the weekend open studio. Ten percent of profits will go the Watershed Center’s building fund.
