Art camp takes flight at Farnsworth

The Farnsworth Art Museum is hosting a week-long art camp for children Monday through Friday, June 26 through 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gamble Center for Education, on the corner of Grace and Union streets.

Young artists are invited to the Farnsworth for a week of making bird-inspired artworks. Campers will look at the work of artists, dancers and scientists who are inspired by our avian friends as they create sculpture, paintings and prints of their own. They will be informed by nature studies, walks through the museum’s galleries and a trip to the Audubon Project Puffin Center. On the final day, there will be a group show to share with families.

Instructor Kathleen Gass studied drawing and fiber arts at the State University of New York and has been an art educator for the past 25 years. She currently teaches in the Belfast Public School System's Gifted & Talented program.
