Waldoboro police officers responded to 392 calls for service between May 15 and June 6. Below are a few of the highlights.

May 16

Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated a crash on Atlantic Highway at 3:40 p.m. Malcolm Ridley, 90, of Nobleboro, was westbound in a 2005 Subaru sedan. Bernadette Steele, 70, of Waldoboro, was eastbound starting in traffic in a 2008 Toyota utility vehicle and failed to yield the right of way. No injuries were reported.

May 17

Hesseltine investigated a report of the theft of $200.

May 18

Officer Thomas Bartunek arrested Stephen Benner, 29, of Newcastle, for a violation of protective order and criminal trespass.

Officer Andrew Santheson investigated a crash on Atlantic Highway at 5:36 p.m. Martha Boynton, 54, of Waldoboro, was making a left turn out of Dunkin' Donuts headed northbound in a 2010 Lexus sedan. Nathan Haley, 20, of Wiscasset, was traveling southbound in a 2010 Ford sedan. As Haley came through the nearby intersection, Boynton started to pull out of the parking lot, striking the rear passenger side of Hayley's vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Santheson arrested Brian Bennett, 36, of Waldoboro, for a violation of conditional release.

May 20

Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report of harassing phone calls.

Hesseltine investigated a crash on Atlantic Highway at 2:30 p.m. Michael O’Connell, 32, of Old Orchard Beach, was driving a 2012 Isuzu truck eastbound and failed to yield the right of way to Kevin Lee, 56, of Cushing, who was riding a bicycle. Injury codes were listed for Lee. O'Connell was passing a school bus at the time of crash.

Bartunek investigated a crash on Main Street at 4:13 p.m. Shannon Cochrane, 41, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2005 Toyota sedan eastbound and failed to keep in the proper lane, striking Wendi Reed, 29, of Waldoboro, who was westbound in a 2014 Dodge utility vehicle. Cochrane said she fell asleep. No injuries were reported.

May 25

Santheson summoned Clinton Collamore Jr., 26, of Waldoboro, for excessive acceleration.

May 26

Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report that someone drove through a fence and pasture, causing damage.

May 27

Fuller investigated a crash at the intersection of Friendship Road and Main Street. Hugh Valaitis, 28, of Killington Vt.,  who was in a 2008 Toyota pickup truck, backed into Autumn Sproul, 17, of Waldoboro, who was at the intersection in a 2007 Mazda sedan. No injuries were reported.

Fuller investigated a report of the theft of a gas tank and attempted theft of a toilet.

May 29

Fuller investigated a crash at the intersection of Atlantic Highway, Main Street, and Washington Road at 11 a.m. Adam Maurer, 42, of Cambridge, Mass., was making a left turn, then changed and turned right into Borealis Breads in a 2017 Subaru sedan. Maurer collided with Bryce Dubord, 70, of Waldoboro, who was going around him in a 2006 Ford sedan. No injuries were reported.

May 30

Hesseltine arrested Larry Nix, 39, of Rockland, for domestic violence assault and a warrant.

Officer William Bragg summoned Jason Gallagher, 36, of Waldoboro, for taking clams without a town license.

Hesseltine investigated a crash on Old Augusta Road at 11:10 a.m. Nichols Cole, 17, of Waldoboro, was westbound on a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle and swerved to avoid a motor vehicle making a left turn in front of him. Jason Stewart, 38, of Waldoboro, was eastbound, making left turn in a 1998 GMC truck and failed to yield right of way to Cole. As he crested a hill, Cole observed Stewart starting to make the left turn into a driveway and braked hard, causing the motorcycle to lie on its side and skid down the roadway. Injury codes were listed.

June 1

Bartunek summoned Opal Keith, 23, of Nobleboro, for operating after suspension.

Hesseltine investigated a report of the theft of a float.

Bartunek investigated a crash on Atlantic Highway, at 11:13 p.m. Jesse Lucas, 23, of Presque Isle, was westbound in a 2012 Honda utility vehicle when an unknown animal ran out into the path of the vehicle, causing damage. No injuries were reported.

June 2

Fuller investigated a report of harassment.

June 3

Officer John Lash arrested Tiffanee Fraughton, 44, of Damariscotta, for operating under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and operating after revocation (habitual offender).

June 5

Fuller summoned Jazman Nash, 28, of Warren, for operating after suspension.

June 6

Hesseltine summoned Michael Gardner, 46, of Rockland, for failure to show proof of insurance, and uninspected motor vehicle.

Editor's Note: Dennis Bonville, 45, of Waldoboro was originally listed in this report. Police confirmed later that while they had made an entry in their log concerning him, he was not charged with a crime.
