Local artist Catinka Knoth will lead a series of free drawing classes for adults, on creating birds and floral or berry motif art and cards, Mondays in June at Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. Classes meet Mondays at 11 a.m. in the Friends Community Room.

Participants will create art using pencils, colored pencils, crayons, and sometimes scissors, with an emphasis on drawing in color. Students do warm-up  practices before working on final drawings.

Knoth will give instruction and guidance. She invites students of all levels to come make art in this communal and diverse environment. Each week is a different bird and plant combination: June 5, hummingbirds and rhododendron; June 12, cardinals and lilacs; June 19, cedar waxwings and cherries; and June 26, read, white and blue.

Knoth provides the classes free of charge, with materials supplied. Friends of Rockland Library host the workshops, which are open to the public. For more information, contact Knoth at info@catinkacards.com or the library at 594-0310.

Knoth also teaches a free weekly children's drawing class at Rockland Public Library, sponsored by Wendy and Keith Wellin. The local artist paints watercolors of Maine and whimsical animal scenes, which she offers as cards and prints. For more information about Knoth's work, visit catinkacards.com.
