Singers are invited to participate in a choral festival to be held this fall at the First Church UCC, 8 Court St.

The First Church in Belfast Choral Festival:  Songs of Peace for Our Times will be held Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. The festival is open to individual singers, as well as local church, high school and community choirs, interested in blending their voices to bring a message of peace and compassion for our times. Practice sessions Sept. 29 and 30 will lead to a concert Sunday afternoon, Oct. 1, at the church.

The festival will be led by Ronald Sherwin, music department chairman at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; and Sarah H. McQuarrie, associate professor of music education and graduate coordinator at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass. Together, they bring a vibrant energy and scholarly approach, creating a fun and inspiring atmosphere for singers and audiences alike.
