Historical society to hear about Red Paint People May 25

ST. GEORGE — The St. George Historical Society meets Thursday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the St. George Grange Hall for an illustrated talk by Kerry Hardy on the Red Paint People, a pre-Indian culture that existed in Maine more than 5,000 years ago.

A potluck supper will be held at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted. For more information, call James Skoglund at 372-8893. Callers should speak to the machine or he won’t answer.

Library sets plant and bake sale for June 3

UNION — The Vose Library, 392 Common Road, holds its annual plant and bake sale Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale offers hundreds of high-quality perennials, herbs, vegetable seedlings and shrubs. Experienced gardeners will be on hand to offer advice and help with plant selection. All proceeds benefit the Library. For more information, call the library at 785-4733.

Friends of Rockland Library seek books, plants, baked goods

The Friends of Rockland Public Library is seeking books,  plants and baked goods for its Annual Friends of Rockland Public Library Book, Plant, and Bake Sale, taking place June 10.
