A home was destroyed early Saturday morning by fire.

A mobile home at Brookside Mobile Home Park off Route 220 was consumed by flames in a fire that was reported by someone at the park at 12:21 a.m. May 20, according to Deputy Fire Chief Dale Smith.

The residents of the home were away when the fire broke out and no one was injured, Smith said.

He said an investigator from the Maine State Fire Marshal's Office would be at the scene Monday to help try to determine a cause of the fire.

Waldoboro, Cushing, Friendship and Warren firefighters, Waldoboro ambulance and police responded to the fire scene. The Nobleboro Fire Department provided station coverage for Waldoboro.

Smith praised the work of the crews, saying they did an "awesome" job. The skirting on the mobile home next to the one destroyed melted, but the fire did not get inside the adjacent residence.

The American Red Cross of Maine announced May 20 it had sent a disaster action team to help the couple and provide food, a safe place to sleep and other essentials.
