Maine Media Workshops + College invites the public to the annual exhibition of work by this year’s graduates of the Professional Certificate Program — Abigail T. Fox, Niko Hample, Eric D. Newton, Nils Tcheyan and Nina Poole. The exhibition will be on view Tuesday through Saturday, May 23 through 27, at Maine Media Gallery, 18 Central St., with the opening reception Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

After being mounted on the Midcoast, the exhibition will travel to Portland’s PhoPa Gallery to run May 31 through June 10, with the opening reception Friday, June 2, from 5 to 7 p.m.

This exhibition features work by the 2017 graduates of the Professional Certificate Program for Visual Storytelling at Maine Media Workshops + College. The program is an interdisciplinary and immersive 30-week program in the art and craft of visual storytelling. Students aspiring to careers as artists and working professionals in the world of media arts become fluent in multiple forms of visual media in order to effectively tell a story — whether it is one of personal expression, documentary journalism, social advocacy, or fictional narrative.

The Maine Media Workshops + College Professional Certificate program is designed to graduate visual storytellers with the skills, vision, experience and knowledge needed to build a career in the evolving field of media arts. The work ranges from documentary work to color abstracts to lyrical black and white compositions.

Maine Media Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and by appointment.
