The Coastal Children’s Museum, 75 Mechanic St., hosts an Artist Trading Card class on the third Friday of each month. On Friday, May 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., the museum will open up its doors so participants can explore different artistic media, create new works of art and swap cards with one another.

This month, artists will learn all about collage, while getting the chance to work with rich colored papers, shapes, magazines and different textured materials. Parents, adults, kids and artists are encouraged to join in the fun. Space is limited, so early sign up is encouraged. Cost is $10.

No experience is necessary to participate. Instructors will guide participants through creating Artist Trading Cards, from exploring the color wheel to mastering new techniques. Each individual will walk away with exciting new knowledge and an exciting new work of art.

For more information about this event or to sign up, email the nonprofit museum at programs@coastalchildrensmuseum.org or call 596-0300. The Coastal Children’s Museum is open year-round Wednesdays through Sundays. For more information on upcoming events and memberships available, visit coastalchildrensmuseum.org.
