Auditions for speaking roles and registration for extras for August film shoot will be held Saturday, May 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Parker B. Poe Theater of Lincoln Academy, 81 Academy Hill Road.

“Rocket Club,” written and directed by Maine native Bobby Davison, is about a group of 12-year-old kids in Illinois who launch rockets and become great friends. The story then jumps when they are in their 20s, as the lead character, Weston, is finishing his father’s list of adventures, including going to Hawaii and learning how to surf. “Rocket Club” is described as a heartfelt film with humor and a bunch of colorful supporting characters.

Filming will be the end of August in Newcastle and surrounding areas. Casting is for non-union speaking roles, $100/day; and non-union background actors, $50/day. The nine speaking roles range from age 12 to 85. For audition sides (scripts), send email to necasting@gmail.com.

People who want to be extras can register, get a photo taken and be assigned their call times. Speaking role auditions will be called in order of sign-in. The director will be at the audition, which is being handled by New England Casting’s James Stiles.
