The Midcoast Peace and Justice Group will host a screening and panel discussion of “FIX IT: Healthcare at the Tipping Point” (2015, USA) Wednesday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at the First Universalist Church, 345 Broadway.
“FIX IT” is a comprehensive documentary about the advantages of a single payer health care system for meeting the health care needs of the State of Maine and the nation. With expensive insurance, rising costs of healthcare and complicated billing, the need to consider the Universal Health Care/Medicare for All alternatives is clear. The film illustrates how all Mainers would be better off, with an emphasis on benefits to businesses and job creation and sustainability of our communities.
This program is presented to honor the memory of Midcoast P&J member Jerry Call, who worked tirelessly for single payer healthcare. The discussion panel will include Rep. Pinny Beebe-Center (D-Rockland); Dr. Bill Clark of Maine AllCare and Physicians for a National Health Program; and Jonathan Fulford, small business owner and Maine AllCare member.
The event is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served. For more information, call 236-8732.
