The John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John St., cordially invites the public to this year’s Carols in the Round candlelit concert given by the Chamber Singers from Mount View High School in Thorndike. The singers will perform Carols in the Round Saturday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m.

Students are selected by audition to sing with the traveling group and perform at more than 20 locations between the end of November and the week of Christmas, offering their holiday music in candlelit settings, primarily churches. The four-part harmony of well-trained voices is very impressive coming from the singers, who surround their audiences. Also, between selections, the group rotates, so each voice part comes from a different direction on successive numbers.

David Stevenson has directed this chorus for a number of years and has traveled with the group to sing before many cultures in various locations. As the composition of the singers changes yearly, as seniors graduate and new members assume their places, the quality of their program maintains its excellence.

No admission will be charged; however, a free-will offering will be taken to defray the expenses of their tour. Also, CDs to benefit the group will be available to buy the day of the concert. John Street United Methodist Church is fully handicapped accessible.
