The high winds blowing around the Midcoast Nov. 11 are causing various troubles, including power outages to 1,880 people, according to Central Maine Powers' outage information.

At 12:30 p.m. 901 of 938 customers in Friendship were without power, as were 928 of 995 in Cushing, and 22 in Thomaston and 29 in Washington.

"High winds are causing some outages today," Gail Rice, CMP spokesperson, said.

"Tree limbs and branches from outside our trim zone are coming in contact with lines," Rice reported. She said crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service.
