The Monday Night Blues series continues Nov. 21 with the Funky Blu Roots, playing 7 to 10 p.m. in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission at the door will be $10.

The Funky Blu Roots, formed in 2005, features as core talents songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Mikal Serafim of Miami Beach; and his wife, Auburn, N.Y., native, Nancy Giannone on bass guitar. The band mixes original songs with distinctive arrangements of covers by such artists as The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers Band, The Steve Miller Band, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Freddie King, Derek Trucks, Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana, among many others.

This summer, Funky Blu Roots was a hit at the Mont-Tremblant International Blues Festival in Quebec Province; and opened for Jefferson Starship. The band has performed a plethora of venues as well as at many festivals, including opening for Johnny Winter at the Lilac Festival and sharing the stage with Ana Popovic and Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds at the Big Rib BBQ & Blues Fest, both in Rochester. N.Y.

Up next in the weekly series are: Nov. 28, the Paul Speidel Band featuring Toni Lynn Washington ($10) Dec. 5, Between Dead Stations fundraiser for trip to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge ($10 or more); and Dec. 12, the season-closing party with Slam Alan Band ($15).
