Lawrence Hollins has been named director of advertising and Alanna Lee has been promoted to assistant advertising director and Portland office manager for Down East magazine.

Hollins joined Down East in 2007 as the online sales manager and transitioned to sales in 2010. He is attuned to the evolving advertising and marketing needs of businesses of all sizes in Maine and has seen first-hand how those needs have changed over the years. In his new role, he will be leading the advertising direction for the Down East brand, including print, digital, video, native content and other innovative solutions yet to come.

“Having someone with Lawrence’s experience and understanding of the Maine advertising environment is a real asset. His work ethic, talent and enthusiasm make him perfect for this role,” said President and CEO Bob Fernald regarding the promotion.

Reflecting on his new role, Lawrence stated, “This is fantastic! We have a great team here, and I’m excited to work together to enhance the solutions we provide clients and to embrace all the rewards and challenges that the future brings.”

In Lee's new role, she will oversee all daily aspects of running the Portland sales office and will act as back-up for the advertising director.

“It is essential for our advertisers that the individual in this position posses exceptional organization as well as the ability to handle multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment with a friendly disposition — Alanna regularly does all of that and more, and we’re excited to have her in this position,” Fernald said.

Commenting about the changes in her role, Lee stated, “I’m excited to be able to take on the challenges in this expanded role. I’ve enjoyed working with our advertisers and feel this is a great step that will allow us to only better serve them going forward.”
